    Amazing Things will Happen, But…

March 11, 2015 By Alan Young 5 Comments

    But…

    What?

What Amazing Things in your life would you like to happen this year?
The next two to five years?
    In your lifetime?

    Why?

The “why” takes it to a new level. A deeper level. A thought provoking level that will cause you to start today.

The timing will never be absolutely perfect. Never.
You just have to get moving.

IMG_2939Let’s get back to “the why” for a quick moment first.

If that or those Amazing Things you desire to happen in your life don’t have a purpose behind it you’ll most likely will never see it come to pass.

It also must have a cause that goes above and beyond yourself.

It will be bigger, larger than you are. You will need others to see it happen. Family, friends, acquaintances and even strangers.

Your why or purpose behind it, is what will produce the passion in your life that will cause you to start today. Not tomorrow or next week. Today.

Your passion is what will cause others to want to hop on board with you.

Okay, so we talked about the “why”. Good stuff, right?

    There is something else.

    Resistance.

It’s  that powerful force inside of you, preventing you from starting. And if we never start, we’ll never see those Amazing Things materialize.

This resistance is felt every day. It shows up through out the day and we most likely are not even aware of it. It stops us from what we should be doing. It is our enemy and we have to crush it! Or, as Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show use to say, “Nip it. Nip it in the bud!” (I love that show 🙂

    So what is it?

It’s that desire to call a friend first to catch up on things before starting your real work. Checking your email when you just checked it thirty minutes ago. Logging onto Facebook to see what’s happening. Scrolling through Instagram. Watching too much TV. Running off to Starbucks for your Latte. (Wait a minute here, I’m at a Starbucks right now, so let’s scratch that one!)

Of course these things are things we do everyday, it’s a part of daily lives. (I actually only go to Starbucks like once a month)

We just have to be aware that it’s not keeping us from being focused and moving forward to fulfilling those Amazing Things.

Our Egos can also get in the way.

Yeap, that annoying little pesky thing called our ego.

At least for me it has and does at times! Here’s how:

    • We’re afraid of what others will think or how they view us.
    • We’re afraid of rejection.
    • We’re afraid we might not make it happen, thus looking like a failure.
    • We’re even afraid that we might succeed!
    • Basically this all boils down to the “fear of man”.

And I, as you, really don’t won’t to have anything to do with that!

Recently I set up a personal Facebook page for this blog that you are on right now. But it took me a while to invite my friends on Facebook to Like it.

    • What if they won’t?
    • What if it seems like self promotion?
    • Which it actually is, right?

I’m going to wright a article entitled “God promotion verses Self promotion”. Both are needed because you and I have a voice that others need to hear.

I’m always stoked when I am able to simply encourage someone in whatever they are going through!

Anyhow, back to those Amazing Things.

    Amazing Things

The next two to five years?

Good article, Alan. Passion is the key. Passions are what drive us to do what we love. When we follow our passions amazing things happen.

A friend on Facebook left this comment on a post I shared about this article that really blessed me. I told her I’d share it in the comment section on my blog, so here it is:

“Good stuff! Definitely sharing! I would have to say almost all of this applies to me. I am one to be scared of succeeding. Thankfully, I am aware of it now, and I work on not sabotaging myself. God wants us to succeed, and move forward. Very good read, can’t wait until the next one!”

      Thanks Elizabeth 🙂
